Middle School Pros & Cons

Like all things in life, Middle school has both pros and cons. Comment below if you agree or disagree, I would love to hear your thoughts!

Pros

• Choice of elective: Unlike in Elementary, you have the chance to sign up for electives you actually are interested in. However, I agree that in Elementary it is beneficial in that you try a bunch of different things so that you figure out what you like and don’t like and are prepared for Middle School.
• Personal locker: I know every school doesn’t have the capacity for every student to have a locker, so we are more lucky than we realize. I would also like to acknowledge, our school is a very clean and modern facility compared to other schools out there. I would know since this is my 3rd middle school.
• Increased freedom: With middle school we are trusted to switch classes every hour and participate in exciting activities.
• Socializing abilities: More people means more opportunities to socialize which in turn leads to more friends!
• Prepares you for high school: Without Middle School, jumping from Elementary to High School would literally be the hardest transition ever!

Cons

• Early starting time: As we all know, SCHOOL STARTS EARLY!! Although this allows us to get out earlier, we have to sacrifice precious sleep which we as teens we especially need.
• Dirty language: The language use in Middle School is certainly different than Elementary, and not in a good way either.
• Social pressure: Throughout Middle School it is easy to feel pressured to be someone you’re not just so that people accept you. Staying true to yourself, as cheesy as it may be, is easier said than done, and can sometimes feel absolutely impossible. You just have to remember at the end of the day all you can be is yourself, so whoever you are is amazing!
